Academics – 01.2021

#46746 In the gradebook (Term Marking) page you will be able to enable the save & publish button no matter your institution’s educational level. So now K12 schools and Academies can also enable the Save & Publish button through a new setting in located in the Marking General Settings page. This button saves grades and publishes them to parents and students. The two new settings in marking general settings are called “Enable Save & Publish button in Teacher portal” and “Number of Days for auto-locking of marks (after initial Teacher’s publish date)”. The first setting enables the Save  & Publish button in the Teachers Gradebook and the second one defines the number of days before the system locks the grades saved by the teacher.

Admin Portal: Dashboard>Configuration>Academic Settings>Marking Settings>General Settings>Marking Tab>GradeBook Marks Locking & Publishing section> Enable Save & Publish button in Teacher portal and Number of Days for auto-locking of marks (after initial Teacher’s publish date).

#46737 You will now be able to find a new setting in the timetable settings page that will define if the Shade Relevant property in the Timetable>Calendar View page will be enabled by default. This setting is called Shade related on start, which will shade the times a teacher or subject has been already been planned.

Admin Portal: Dashboard>Configuration>Academic Settings>Timetable>Timetable Settings> Shade related on start checkbox.

#46616 On the Attendance list page, we have added an additional option in the action’s menu, to make the bulk verification of absences faster and more convenient than before. With the Bulk Verification Edit button, you can now select a specific absence status and choose to verify all absences of that specific status from a specific start/end date. Additionally, you can choose to remove verifications. This option is available to Admins, and Employees. Note: keep in mind that this new tool will affect all absences of a specific status in a defined date range. E.g 1/1/2021-11/1/2021, Status: Absent, action Verify.

Admin Portal: Dashboard>Management>Academic Tasks>Attendance>Attendance List>Actions menu>Bulk Verification Edit button.

Employee Portal: Dashboard>Management>Academic Tasks>Attendance>Attendance List>Actions menu>Bulk Verification Edit button.

#45961 In the Attendance list, when an employee/secretary is verifying absences, the system will now ask the user if he/she wants to send an email/SMS/push notification to the students whose absences are verified. The user will be asked if he wants to send a message even if the setting has been set to automatically send messages/emails/SMS/push notifications. In addition to this change, a setting has been added that can limit the notification messages students receive to 1 per day. If this setting is turned on the system will check if a student has received 1 notification message and if the student has received one, then the system will not allow a second notification that day.

Employee Portal: Dashboard>Management>Academic Tasks>Attendance>Attendance List>Actions>Verify Absence button>Popup window to ask if you want to send a notification.

Admin Portal: Dashboard>Configuration>Academic Settings>Attendance Settings>Attendance Settings>Absences Notifications>Auto Notification Settings For Verified Absences (Teacher portal) section> “Send Only One Notification Per Day” setting.

#45162 With the use of a new setting we have added we can combine two timeslots from the timetable into one continuous session. For example, by entering 13.00-14.00 slot and 15.00-16.00 slot in the timetable the system will create one session 13.00-16.00. This setting is called Use same continuative timetable periods as one session” and you can find this setting in Timetable Settings.

Admin Portal: Dashboard>Configuration>Timetable Settings> “Use same continuative timetable periods as one session” checkbox.

#44964 A change has been made to the Calendar view copy timetable function. In the popup window where you copied a timetable the department field if left empty would automatically assume you want to copy the timetable to all departments/levels by default. This is no longer the case. In the departments/levels field you will need to click on the new select all radio button to indicate you want to copy a timetable to all departments/levels or all courses. If you click on the copy button, then you will see a warning message in a popup window asking you to confirm your choice. This is an improvement to better protect from mistakenly taken actions.

In the list of requests, each line representing a request will have a “Files” button in which you can view “justification files” which were uploaded during the creation of a Request. This function offers greater control, transparency and communication between the institution and its parents and students. For admins, we have added new settings that govern the way this new function operates. The new settings can be found in Attendance Settings and are named as follows.
