Overview
Display label: Add the related _Grade_-_Stream_ as part of the _Group_ name when automatic _Group_ creation is enabled
Setting ID: Xrisi_TaksisKateuthinsis_AutomatiDimiourgiaTmimatos
Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Higher Education Customization, group Basic Settings
What This Setting Does
When enabled, Classter appends the related _Grade_ and _Stream_ to the name of each _Group_ that Classter creates automatically, so the _Group_ name clearly shows which _Grade_-_Stream_ combination it belongs to.
Where It Is Used
This setting has no dedicated screen. It runs automatically as part of the automatic _Group_ creation process, triggered when a _Subject_ is created or saved.
Business Logic / Behavior
- Only takes effect when Use automatic _Group_ creation based on _Subject_ (Auto_Create_Group_From_Subject) is enabled and Higher Education Mode is active – it is read only inside that same automatic _Group_ creation process.
- Applies to newly created Groups: the _Group_ name is built from the _Subject_’s description, followed by the short description of the related _Grade_, followed by the short description of the related _Stream_ (each part is appended only if it is present).
- The combined name is truncated to 100 characters when stored as the _Group_’s short description.
- If this setting is disabled while Auto_Create_Group_From_Subject remains enabled, the automatically created _Group_ keeps the plain _Subject_ name without the _Grade_-_Stream_ suffix.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute defines the _Subject_ Calculus I (code MTH101) for _Grade_ Year 2, _Stream_ Science. With this setting enabled and automatic _Group_ creation active, Classter creates a _Group_ named Calculus I Year 2 Science instead of just Calculus I, so staff can tell at a glance which _Grade_-_Stream_ track the _Group_ belongs to.
When to Use
When to Enable
- The institution runs multiple parallel _Grade_-_Stream_ tracks for the same _Subject_, for example Physics offered to both Science and Engineering streams, and staff need to distinguish the resulting Groups in lists and schedules.
When to Disable
- Each _Subject_ maps to a single _Group_ regardless of _Grade_ or _Stream_, or _Group_ names are curated manually and should stay short and unmodified.
Notes
- Prerequisites: Use automatic _Group_ creation based on _Subject_ (Auto_Create_Group_From_Subject) must be enabled, and Higher Education Mode must be active.

K-12 vs Higher Education: Confirmed in code, this setting is read only inside the automatic _Group_-creation routine that is itself gated by Higher Education Mode and by Use automatic _Group_ creation based on _Subject_. In K-12 configurations where Higher Education Mode is disabled, or where automatic _Group_ creation from _Subject_ is turned off, this setting has no effect.
