Setting: Preselected recipient type in case of bulk actions

What This Setting Does
This setting defines which recipient type is preselected whenever a screen in Classter asks the user to choose a recipient type for a bulk messaging operation. It only applies to operations where the end user is presented with a recipient type choice; it does not force a fixed recipient type.
Where It Is Used
Bulk notification screens such as the Annual Results Notification bulk action. When staff open one of these screens, the recipient type dropdown opens already set to the recipient type configured here, and staff can change it before running the operation.
Business Logic / Behavior
- The available recipient types are: Selected User, User Account Email, Parents, Guardian, Financial Contact, General Contact, Payer, Academic Contact, Teachers, and Agents.
- If no value is configured, the recipient type defaults to Selected User.
- The configured value only preselects the recipient type field; it does not restrict which recipient type the user can ultimately choose for that specific bulk operation.
- For certain bulk operations, such as the Annual Results Notification, an additional Mentor recipient option can also be offered alongside the preselected type.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute runs bulk notifications to _Students_’ Guardians more often than to any other recipient type, so they set this setting to Guardian.
Before this change: staff running the Annual Results Notification bulk action always saw the recipient type dropdown default to Selected User and had to change it to Guardian every time.
After this change: the same dropdown now opens already set to Guardian, saving staff a manual step on every bulk run, while still letting them switch to another recipient type if needed for a particular batch.
When to Use
Use this setting to match the recipient type preselection to whichever recipient type the institution most commonly targets in its bulk messaging operations, reducing repetitive manual selection for staff.
