Numeric Marking Criteria

The first step when configuring Numeric Making is creating the Marking Criteria. To do this, go to the configuration settings.

Note: All configurations on Classter portal are carried out by the Administrator.

Select the Numeric Criteria by clicking on the Numeric button.

  • You will be able to see all existing Numeric Marking Criteria.
  • You can move a Criterion up and down in list by dragging and dropping.
  • Click on the Save Re-ordering button once in the preferred position

You can also Edit existing Criteria by clicking on the edit button next to each Criterion

Click on the blue + sign

next to the criteria to add a child marking criteria under the parent criteria.

Click on the Actions button at the top of the page to export all marking criteria.

Create New/Edit Marking Criteria

To create a new criterion, you need to go to the top right of the page and click on the + Create New button. Once you have clicked on the button you will see the following page appear (Figure 4).

  1. Abbreviation: Enter a suitable abbreviation. E.g., EN 1.1.
  2. Description: Enter the description for the marking criteria. E.g., Spelling.
  3. Category: To add the marking criteria to a specific category, choose a suitable category from the dropdown. E.g., English.
  4. Grades: Select the grade from a dropdown if this marking criterion is to be used by a specific grade.
  5. Descriptive: Enabling this switch makes the marking criterion a Descriptive Marking Criteria. If this is switched off, the marking criterion will be treated as a Numeric Marking Criterion.

Once you are done click on the Save button to save the new criterion.

Note: Fields with a red asterisk are mandatory. You will be unable to save criterion if a mandatory field is left empty.

To edit the marking criteria, simply click on the edit button and edit the fields as described in 1-5 above.

Child Marking Criteria

You can create sub marking criteria under each criterion. Click on the blue + sign next to the criteria to add a child marking criteria under the parent criteria:

Once you click on the + button you will be directed to a creation page

  1. Parent: This indicates the parent criterion for the new sub criteria.
  2. Abbreviation: Enter a suitable abbreviation.
  3. Description: Enter the description for the marking criteria.
  4. Category: To add the marking criteria to a specific category, choose a suitable category from the dropdown.
  5. Grades: Select the grade from a dropdown if this marking criterion is to be used by a specific grade.
  6. Descriptive: Enabling this switch makes the marking criterion a Descriptive Marking Criteria. If this is switched off, the marking criterion will be treated as a Numeric Marking Criterion

Click on the ‘Save’ button to save the new sub criterion.

Manage Categories

Categories can be used to group one or multiple marking criteria under a functional group. To view existing categories and/or create new ones, click on the Manage Categories button.

Click on the Manage Categories button to go to the Manage Category page.

  • You can see existing Categories with Descriptions and Color codes.
  • You can delete a Category by clicking on the delete button.
  • You can edit a Category by clicking on the edit button.
  • You can create a new Category by clicking on the +Create New button.
  • You can search for a specific category by entering a description in the search field
  • You can define the number of results presented by changing the number between ‘Show’ e.g., 20.

Create New/Edit Category

Click on the +Create New button to add a new category.

  • Enter a description e.g., ESL English.
  • Choose a color e.g., Blue.
  • Click on Save to save the new category.
  • If you click on Edit you will be able to edit the category.
