Numeric Marking Ranges

On the Marking Ranges page, you can create and edit marking ranges and then apply them to subjects.

You can view the ranges in a Grid or Card View.

  • You can view all existing ranges here both for Numerical and Descriptive Marking.
  • You can search for a specific Marking Range by entering a description in the search box.
  • Filter out existing descriptive or non-descriptive ranges by using the filter buttons.
  • You can click on an existing range to edit it.
  • You can click on the +Create New button to create a new Marking Range.

Create New Range

Once you have clicked on the +Create New button a new page will be loaded automatically.

  1. Description: Add a suitable description for the marking range e.g., Base (1-20)
  2. Decimals: Add how many decimals you want the range to use e.g., 0 for no decimals.
  3. From: Add the start value of the marking range e.g., 1
  4. To: Add the end value e.g., 100
  5. Base: Enter a base value which is the minimum passing mark e.g., 41
  6. Default: The default switch if switched on will make the Marking Range the default.
  7. Descriptive: The descriptive switch if switched on will make the marking range a descriptive one. To make it a numeric marking range, leave the switch off.
  8. This final option ‘+’ adds descriptions for every numeric value. This is used to add the values for the marking range. They can be a Descriptive Marking Range. You can add full descriptions or alternative descriptions that will appear in reports. Note: In the ‘From’ and ‘To’ fields the system takes into consideration ONLY the number from the ‘From’ field. Do not enter different numbers in the ‘From’ and ‘To’ fields.

Save the new Marking Range by clicking on the save button.

Note: All fields with a red asterisk are Mandatory fields. You will be prompted to fill in a mandatory field if it is left empty. You will be unable to save the new range if a mandatory field is empty.

Edit Marking Range

Once you have clicked on the marking range you want to edit the following page will appear.

  1. Description: Edit the description for the marking range e.g., Base (1-20)

  7. Descriptive: The descriptive switch if switched on will make the marking range a descriptive one. To make it a numeric marking range, leave the switch off.
  8. This final option ‘+’ adds descriptions for every numeric value. Here you can add more descriptions or delete existing descriptions you no longer need.

Save your changes by clicking on the ‘Save’ button or click on ‘Delete’ to delete this Marking Range. Once you are done with Marking Ranges you can continue to the Marking Scenarios page.
