This setting lets you choose the Presence Category that Classter pre-selects by default for every other Student in the Group when a Teacher marks one Student as absent. Applies to the Subject attendance-taking grid (Subjects Attendance): when one Student is set to Absent, Classter automatically sets the remaining Students in the same Group to Present, using the presence category chosen here.
