Overview
Payment Gateways in Mobile App/Online_Payment_Type_Mobile is located in Financial Settings > General Settings > e-Payments > Basic Settings. It controls which online payment gateway(s) are made available to end users, specifically within the mobile app.
What This Setting Does
This setting lets the institution choose which payment gateways or providers (for example, specific card processors or local payment providers) appear as options when a _Student_ or parent tries to make an online payment through the mobile app. Only certain gateways are supported in the mobile app, so this list may be narrower than what is available on the web portal.
Where It Is Used
This setting affects the payment screen inside the separate Classter mobile app, controlling which payment providers a _Student_ or _Parent_ sees when paying from their phone or tablet, rather than anything shown in the web portal.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is a multi-select setting, allowing more than one payment gateway to be enabled at the same time.
- Only gateways that are technically supported in the mobile app appear as selectable options here, which is a smaller set than the general Online Payment Type setting used for the web portal.
- If no gateway is selected, mobile app users are not able to complete an online payment through the app.
Example(s)
A University offers 3 payment gateways on its web portal (Gateway A, Gateway B, and Gateway C), but only Gateway B is certified for mobile SDK use. The administrator configures Payment Gateways in the Mobile App to include only Gateway B, so a parent paying a $300 tuition installment from the mobile app sees just that single payment option, while the same parent paying from the web portal still sees all 3 gateways.
When to Use
Use this setting whenever the institution offers a mobile app to _Students_ or parents and wants to control, independently from the web portal, which payment gateways can be used for mobile payments. This is especially relevant since not all payment gateways configured for the portal are technically compatible with the mobile app.
Notes
- Prerequisites: Enable online payments/Use_Online_Payments should be turned on for online payments to be available at all; this setting only affects the mobile app channel specifically.

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
