Some institutes track a Subject's weekly hours in more than one category — for example distinguishing theory hours from lab hours, tracked as Subject Hours 1 and Subject Hours 2. This setting controls whether, when scheduling a Timetable entry, staff must specify which hour category the entry counts towards, so Classter can check the entry against the Subject's hour limits for that category.
