A Timetable entry links a Teacher, a Group (class), and a Subject to a specific time slot. This setting decides whether saving that entry also automatically enrolls, or updates the enrollment of, the selected Teacher to the selected Group and Subject, so the Teacher's teaching assignment stays in sync with what the Timetable shows without a separate manual step.
