Overview
This setting narrows down when Classter’s Enrollment Log records a Student being added to or removed from a Subject/Class. Instead of logging every enrollment change for every Student, the institution can choose one or more Student registration statuses (for example Active or Provisional), and Classter will only create log entries while the Student involved is currently in one of those statuses.
This setting works together with the Enrollment Log system described in Enable statistical enrollment log for the following types. On its own it does not turn logging on or off; it refines which Students’ actions are actually recorded once logging has already been enabled elsewhere.
What This Setting Does
This is a multi-select setting: the administrator selects one or more of the Student registration statuses that are already configured in the system (for example Active, Provisional, or any other status the institution uses).
Once one or more statuses are selected:
- A Student being added to, or removed from, a Subject/Class is only logged while that Student’s current registration status is one of the selected statuses.
- If the Student is in a status that was not selected, the addition or removal still happens normally, but no Enrollment Log entry is created for it.
- A Teacher being allocated to, or removed from, a Subject/Class is only logged for the Students in that Subject/Class who are currently in one of the selected statuses.
- A Student being transferred from one Class to another for the same Subject is only logged while the Student is in one of the selected statuses.
If this setting is left empty (no status selected), there is no restriction based on status: matching actions are logged for Students in any registration status, as long as the relevant action type is enabled in Enable statistical enrollment log for the following types.

Here, you define student statuses for which all subjects will be recorded as deleted in case the student changes status to one of the selected in this setting.
Example
Setting -> Inactive
For our example, we will change Justin Abraham’s status from Registered to Inactive, as shown in Figure 1.

Where It Is Used
This setting affects the same background Enrollment Log described in Enable statistical enrollment log for the following types, so it applies wherever those log entries are created:
- When staff manually enroll or remove a Student from a Subject/Class.
- When staff transfer a Student from one Class/Group to another.
- When staff allocate or remove a Teacher from a Class Subject.
- When a Student’s registration status itself changes (for example during re-registration or a status update), which can automatically trigger new log entries for that Student, as explained below.
The resulting log entries are viewed on the same Enrollment Logs screen described previously, opened from the Students per Subject list, and are only visible to staff who have been granted the Statistical log trail permission.

Business Logic / Behavior
This setting acts as a status-based filter on top of the master logging switch and the action-type selection described in the related settings below. Its confirmed behavior is:
- If a Student is currently in one of the selected statuses and one of the tracked actions happens (enrollment, removal, teacher allocation, or class transfer), that action is logged.
- If a Student’s registration status changes from a status that was not selected to a status that is selected, Classter automatically logs all of the Subjects/Classes that Student is already enrolled in as newly added entries. This keeps the log complete for that Student from that point forward, without staff needing to log each Subject individually.
- If an action involves a Teacher (for example a Teacher being allocated to a Class Subject), the Teacher is logged together with the Students in that Class Subject who are currently in one of the selected statuses.
- If this setting is left empty, no restriction by status is applied to day-to-day enrollment, removal, transfer, and Teacher-allocation actions; they are logged regardless of the Student’s current status.
This setting works alongside the companion setting Log all Subjects as Deleted to statistical log trail when a Student status is changed to the following statuses. When a Student’s new registration status matches one of the statuses configured in that companion setting, all of the Student’s Subjects are logged as removed, regardless of the status list configured here. If this setting is left empty, the system falls back to using only that companion setting: a Student moving into one of its statuses has all Subjects logged as removed, and a Student moving out of one of its statuses has them logged as added again.
This setting only controls whether an action is recorded in the Enrollment Log. It never blocks, changes, or reverses the underlying enrollment, removal, transfer, or status-change action itself.
Example(s)
Example 1 – Logging only Students in specific statuses
Meadowbrook Institute wants its Enrollment Log to reflect only Students who are formally registered, so it selects Active and Provisional in this setting. Student Alex T. is currently in status Active and is added to the Chemistry Subject/Class; because Active is one of the selected statuses, Classter records this addition in the Enrollment Log. Around the same time, Student Nora K., who is in status Pending Documents (not selected), is added to the Biology Subject/Class; because Pending Documents is not one of the tracked statuses, no log entry is created for this addition. Later, when Nora’s status is updated to Active, Classter automatically logs all of the Subjects/Classes Nora is already enrolled in as newly added entries, so the Enrollment Log now reflects her full course load going forward.
Example 2 – Setting left empty
Fairview School leaves this setting empty. As a result, every Student’s Subject/Class additions, removals, transfers, and related Teacher allocations are logged regardless of the Student’s registration status, as long as the master logging switch and the relevant action types remain enabled in the related settings.
When to Use
When to Enable
Select one or more statuses in this setting when:
- The institution only wants the Enrollment Log to reflect activity for Students in specific, currently-relevant statuses, such as Active or Provisional.
- The institution wants to exclude enrollment activity that happens while a Student is in a status that is not meaningful for enrollment statistics, such as a graduated or withdrawn status.
- The institution wants the log to automatically capture a Student’s full current Subject/Class load the moment that Student’s status changes into a tracked status, without staff needing to log each Subject manually.
When to Disable
Leave this setting empty when:
- The institution wants every enrollment, removal, transfer, and Teacher-allocation action logged regardless of a Student’s current registration status.
- The institution only needs to filter the Enrollment Log by action type, using Enable statistical enrollment log for the following types, without any additional filtering by status.
Notes
K-12 Mode vs. Higher Education Mode
This setting behaves identically whether the institution runs in K-12 Mode or Higher Education Mode. The mode itself is controlled separately by Enable Configuration for Higher Education / Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou.

The filtering logic described above works the same way in both modes, and no separate configuration is required for Higher Education institutions. The only difference end users may notice is wording: labels such as Subject, Group, and Student follow the institution’s own Terminology configuration, so in Higher Education Mode these may appear as Course/Module, Cohort/Section, or Learner instead of the K-12 defaults. The underlying filtering behavior is not affected by the mode.
Prerequisites
- Enable Logging for the following processes / Keep_Logging_For_The_Following_Processes must be turned on for Student Enrollments > Group/Courses; otherwise nothing is logged regardless of this setting.
- Enable statistical enrollment log for the following types / Enable_Statistical_Enrollment_Log_For_Types must include the relevant action type (for example, Student enrolled into a Subject/Class) before that type of action becomes eligible for logging at all.
- The Student registration statuses offered as options in this setting must already be configured in the system’s Student Status setup.
- At least one staff role must be granted the Statistical log trail permission for anyone to be able to view the resulting log entries.

- Enable Logging for the following processes (Settings > General Settings > Basic Customization tab > Logging section – Keep_Logging_For_The_Following_Processes) – the master switch that must be turned on first.
- Enable statistical enrollment log for the following types (Settings > General Settings > Basic Customization tab > Logging section – Enable_Statistical_Enrollment_Log_For_Types) – decides which action types are eligible for logging in the first place.
- Log all Subjects as Deleted to statistical log trail when a Student status is changed to the following statuses (Settings > General Settings > Basic Customization tab > Logging section – Log_All_Subjects_As_Deleted_To_Statistical_Log_Trail_When_A_Student_Status_Is_Changed) – defines statuses that trigger an automatic Deleted log entry for all of a Student’s Subjects, and works together with this setting to decide whether a status change is logged as an addition or a removal.
- Enable Configuration for Higher Education (Settings > General Settings > Higher Education Customization tab > Higher Education Basic Settings section – Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) – switches the institution between K-12 Mode and Higher Education Mode; does not change how this setting behaves.
