This setting specifies the default Student status that a Quick Admission application automatically receives the moment the applicant completes final submission through the Quick Admission flow. It is the Quick Admission equivalent of the standard admission flow's Default Application Status (Final Submission) setting - each flow reads its own setting, so the two can be configured with different outcomes.
