Overview
_Subject_ enrollment statuses that flag subject arrangements as “Scholarship exception”/Subject_Enrollment_Statuses_That_Flag_Subject_Arrangements_As_Scholarship_Exception is a setting located in Financial Settings > General Settings > Reductions, Discounts & Loans, under the Discount Settings sub-group. It defines which _Subject_ enrollment statuses cause a _Student_ financial arrangement to be automatically marked as a scholarship exception.
What This Setting Does
This setting lets an administrator pick one or more _Subject_ enrollment statuses (for example, statuses used to mark a _Student_ as auditing, withdrawn, or on a special academic track for a specific _Subject_). Whenever a financial arrangement includes a _Subject_ whose enrollment status matches one of the selected statuses, Classter automatically labels that arrangement with a “Scholarship exception” flag.
Where It Is Used
This setting affects the automatic flagging of _Subject_ arrangements as they are created or updated.
- Main Menu > Configuration > Main Settings > Financial Settings > General Settings > Reductions, Discounts and Loans tab > Discount Settings section – this is where the setting itself is configured.
- Main Menu > Student’s record > Financial tab > Arrangements > open a _Subject_ arrangement – a warning badge labeled Scholarship Exception is shown on arrangements that end up flagged by this setting, and the same badge and related restrictions appear on the equivalent arrangement screens under Admission and Re-Registration workflows.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is a multi-select setting; administrators choose one or more _Subject_ enrollment statuses from the list of statuses configured in the system.
- Whenever an arrangement includes _Subjects_ that have any of the selected enrollment statuses, that arrangement is automatically flagged as a “Scholarship exception”.
- If no statuses are selected, no arrangements will be automatically flagged through this mechanism.
- The flag set by this setting is consumed by the related setting that disables certain functionalities (such as discount management) for flagged arrangements, so the two settings are designed to work together.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute uses a _Subject_ enrollment status called “Scholarship Track” to mark _Students_ who are enrolled in a _Subject_ under a full, 100%-tuition scholarship program. The school’s administrator selects “Scholarship Track” in this setting, alongside a second status called “Withdrawn – Pending Review” that is also chosen. On September 1, 2026, a staff member creates a $6,500 _Subject_ arrangement for _Student_ Alex D., whose _Subject_ enrollment carries the “Scholarship Track” status. Because that status is one of the two selected here, Classter automatically flags the new $6,500 arrangement as a “Scholarship exception” the moment it is saved, alerting staff that special financial handling applies. A second arrangement created the same day for a _Student_ whose _Subject_ enrollment status is “Active” (not selected in this setting) is saved without the flag.
When to Use
Configure this setting when your institution needs Classter to automatically identify which financial arrangements belong to scholarship or similarly protected _Students_, based on how their _Subject_ enrollments are statused. This is useful for institutions that want to prevent additional discounts or certain payer changes from being applied to scholarship arrangements without manual review. If your institution does not use scholarship-related _Subject_ enrollment statuses, this setting can be left unconfigured, in which case no arrangements will be automatically flagged.
Notes
Prerequisites: the relevant _Subject_ enrollment statuses (for example a scholarship-specific status) must already exist and be assigned to _Students_ before this setting can flag any arrangement; this setting only selects among existing statuses, it does not create them.
