Check installment outstanding status based on the agreed payment date.

Overview

This article describes the setting ‘Check installment outstanding status based on the agreed payment date (instead of just comparing the month)’ (Setting ID: Elegxos_Palaiotitas_Dosis_Me_Vasi_Imerominia_Pliromis), located under Financial Settings > General Settings > Transaction Rights & Controls > Outstanding Installments Payment.

What This Setting Does

This is an on/off setting that changes how precisely Classter determines whether an installment is outstanding (unpaid and due). When enabled, Classter compares the exact agreed payment date of the installment, instead of only comparing the agreed month of payment, to decide whether it counts as outstanding.

Where It Is Used

This setting is not shown as a field on any screen; it works in the background whenever staff calculate which installments are outstanding for a _Student_, most visibly while issuing a payment document.

  • Management > Financial > List of Payers > Actions menu for a payer > Payment Receipt (or Invoice and Payment / Invoice on Credit): when the outstanding installments are listed for selection in this screen, this setting determines whether they are matched by exact agreed payment date or by agreed month.
  • The same ‘Issue New Transaction’ quick action available from the sidebar on financial screens, and from a _Student_’s own Financial tab, opens the same screen and is affected the same way.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • When enabled, Classter connects a payment to an installment using the exact agreed payment date as the filter, rather than only the agreed month of payment.
  • When enabled, an installment is considered outstanding by checking only the agreed payment date, not the agreed month.
  • When disabled (the default), the outstanding status comparison is based on the agreed month of payment rather than the specific day.

Example(s)

Example: at Alpha Institute, an installment’s agreed payment date is March 15. A parent pays on March 20 – 5 days after the agreed date, but still within March. With this setting disabled, Classter compares only the agreed month, so the March 20 payment is matched against the installment and it is not flagged as outstanding at all. With this setting enabled, Classter compares the exact agreed payment date of March 15 against the March 20 payment date, so the installment is correctly flagged as outstanding for those 5 days (March 16 through March 20), giving finance staff precise, date-level control over when an installment counts as late versus paid.

When to Use

This setting matters whenever the institution needs to decide how precisely installment due dates are matched against payment dates when checking whether an installment is outstanding.

When to Enable

Enable this setting if your institution needs precise, date-level tracking of installment due dates rather than a looser month-based comparison, for example to enforce exact payment deadlines.

When to Disable

Keep this setting disabled if your institution is comfortable treating any payment made within the agreed month as satisfying the installment, without needing exact date-level precision.

Notes

Prerequisites: installments must have both an agreed month and an agreed payment date configured for this setting to have a meaningful effect.

Related settings: Outstanding installments from previous periods will be paid first (Pliromi_Aneksofliton_Doseon_Apo_Alles_Periodous_Me_Imerominia in Financial Settings > General Settings > Transaction Rights & Controls > Outstanding Installments Payment); Enable auto-connection of unpaid installments during issuing an unconnected payment receipt (Enable_Auto_Connection_Of_Outstanding_Installments_During_Issuing_An_Unconnected_Payment_Receipt in Financial Settings > General Settings > Transaction Rights & Controls > Outstanding Installments Payment).

This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
