What This Setting Does
This setting controls in which _Teacher_-facing screens the _Student_ ID is shown, for institutions where displaying _Student_ identification information to _Teachers_ is otherwise allowed. Combined with the setting that hides _Student_ contact information from _Teachers_ and with each module’s own identification-number configuration, this decides where the _Student_ ID actually appears for _Teacher_ accounts.
Where It Is Used
Assessment and Assignment marking screens, Gradebook and Term Grades marking screens, and the Student list and Statistics form used by Teachers under My Classes, My Courses, and related marking areas.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is a multi-select setting with three available options: Student list and Progress Form, Assessment and Assignment Marking, and Gradebook Marking.
- The Student ID is shown to a Teacher in a given screen only when that screen’s option is selected here.
- Showing the Student ID also depends on the Teachers do not have access to their Students’ contact and demographic data setting not blocking Student information, and on the relevant module’s own identification-number setting being configured to show an ID.
- If none of the three options are selected, the Student ID is not shown to Teachers in any of these screens, even where it would otherwise be allowed.
Example
Alpha Institute wants Teachers to see Student IDs during Gradebook marking but not on the general Student list. The administrator selects only Gradebook Marking in this setting.
- Teacher Daniel O. entering marks in the Gradebook for student Amara W., Student ID STU-04821, sees her ID next to her name.
- Daniel browsing the general Student list for the same class does not see any Student ID column, because that screen’s option was not selected.
When to Use
Select the screens where _Teachers_ need a reliable way to tell apart similarly named _Students_ or cross-reference external records by ID. Leave a screen unselected when _Student_ ID visibility is not needed there, or when _Student_ identification numbers should stay hidden from teaching staff in that context.

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether the institution is configured for K-12 or Higher Education.
