Updated on July 8, 2026

Overview

Display label: Show employment data info under

Setting ID: Show_Employment_Data_Info_Under

Location: Main Settings > General Settings > HR Management, in the Employment Contracts group.

What This Setting Does

A _Teacher_’s employment classification, such as Employment Method, Legal Relationship, Employment Type, and Operational Status, can be shown on the Employment Data tab, on the Contracts list, or on both. This setting decides where those classification fields are visible in the _Teacher_ profile.

Where It Is Used

  • Teacher > Teacher profile > Employment Data tab.
  • Teacher > Teacher profile > Contracts tab, in both the contract list columns and the contract form.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • Both (the default): the employment classification fields appear on the Employment Data tab and on the Contracts tab.
  • Employment Data Tab: the fields appear only on the Employment Data tab; the Contracts tab does not show them.
  • Contracts: the fields appear only on the Contracts tab; the Employment Data tab does not show them.
  • The setting affects visibility only. The underlying employment classification data is the same no matter where it is displayed.

Examples

Alpha Institute wants one place to manage employment classification, so it sets this setting to Employment Data Tab. Staff open _Teacher_ Robert L.’s Employment Data tab to see and edit his Employment Method and Legal Relationship, and the Contracts tab focuses only on contract dates and pay.

Beta College prefers to see everything together while reviewing contracts, so it sets this setting to Contracts. When reviewing _Teacher_ Sofia M.’s contract, her Employment Type and Operational Status are shown right there on the contract screen.

When to Use

This is a choice setting rather than an on/off switch. Choose Both to keep the fields visible everywhere, Employment Data Tab to consolidate them in one place, or Contracts to keep them alongside contract details.

Notes

  • Prerequisites: none beyond having Employment Data and Employment Contracts configured for teachers.
  • Related settings: Add protocol entry upon contract creation (Add_Protocol_Entry_Upon_Contract_Creation in HR Management > Employment Contracts).
  • Related settings: Automated employment contract numbering Format (Automated_Employment_Contract_Numbering_Format in HR Management > Employment Contracts).

K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting behaves the same regardless of institution type.
