When an institute uses a Curriculum structure to drive online enrollment, Students are shown a grid of available Subjects with several columns of information (such as credits, hours, or prerequisites). This setting lets the institute pick which of those columns should be hidden from that grid, simplifying the enrollment screen for end users.
