Verification Qr Code Type

Updated on July 7, 2026

Overview

Verification QrCode Type/VerificationQrCodeType is a setting located under Financial Settings > General Settings > Other Payments, in the Transactions Verification Codes sub-group.What This Setting Does

This setting lets the institution choose the standard, or format, that the verification QR code on financial documents should follow. Different countries and payment networks use different QR code standards; this setting allows the institution to pick the one that matches its local banking and regulatory requirements, such as a SEPA-based bank transfer QR code standard used in Europe or a national e-invoicing QR code standard.

Where It Is Used

This setting affects the format of the verification QR code generated on invoices, receipts, or other financial documents once verification QR codes are enabled. The setting is configured at:

  • Main Menu > Financial Settings > General Settings > Other Payments > Transactions Verification Codes – this is where the institution selects the QR code standard to use.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • This is a single-select setting, so only one QR code standard can be active at a time.
  • Available options include at least a SEPA Credit Transfer QR code format and another regional e-invoicing standard.
  • The choice made here determines which additional settings (such as beneficiary BIC, IBAN, purpose, and creditor reference) are relevant, since those fields feed into the selected QR code standard.

Example(s)

Example National Institute operates in a country using the SEPA banking system. The finance office sets the Verification QrCode Type to the SEPA Credit Transfer option, so that the verification QR code generated on a EUR 750 tuition invoice follows the SEPA bank transfer format, letting the payer scan the code with their banking app to auto-fill a EUR 750 bank transfer instead of typing the amount and account details manually.

When to Use

Use this setting once unique verification QR codes have been enabled for one or more document types, to specify which QR code standard should be used based on the institution’s country, bank, and regulatory environment.

Notes

Prerequisite: this setting is only effective once Enable transactions unique verification QrCodes for the following types/EnableTransactionsUniqueVerificationQrCodes has been configured for at least one document type.

  • Enable transactions unique verification QrCodes for the following types/EnableTransactionsUniqueVerificationQrCodes (Financial Settings > General Settings > Other Payments > Transactions Verification Codes)
  • The default BIC code of the Beneficiary/BeneficiaryBICCode (Financial Settings > General Settings > Other Payments > Transactions Verification Codes)
  • The Default purpose of the SEPA Credit Transfer/SCTDefaultPurpose (Financial Settings > General Settings > Other Payments > Transactions Verification Codes)

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
