Overview
The ‘Do not allow any installment with an agreed payment date being X months after the start month of the signed academic period, where X is’ setting (Setting ID: Do_not_allow_any_installment_with_an_agreed_payment_date_being_X_months_after_the_start_month_of_the_signed_academic_period) is located in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Arrangement Constraints & Controls sub-group.
What This Setting Does
This setting lets you define the maximum number of months after the start of the signed academic period that any installment’s agreed payment date is allowed to fall on. It prevents staff from scheduling installments too far into the future relative to when the academic period the arrangement relates to actually began.
Where It Is Used
This setting is not tied to a dedicated visible field in the Portal; it is checked automatically in the background when an arrangement is saved. It affects the following area:
- Main Menu > Students > Students List > (open a _Student_) > Financial Data tab > New/Edit Arrangement > Arrangement Installments section – the check runs on the installment agreed payment dates entered here when the arrangement is saved.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This setting defines a maximum number of months (X) that may pass after the start month of the signed academic period before an installment’s agreed payment date is considered too late.
- If a user attempts to set an installment’s agreed payment date beyond X months after the academic period’s start month, Classter prevents the action or displays a validation message.
- This rule helps ensure that payment plans are completed within a reasonable timeframe relative to the academic period they cover, rather than extending indefinitely into future periods.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute’s academic period begins in September 2026, and this setting is configured to 6 months, meaning installment agreed payment dates can extend through March 2027 (6 months after September) but no later. When staff member Mr. Carter tries to schedule an installment for Student Ms. Johnson’s arrangement with an agreed payment date of May 15, 2027 – 8 months after the September start – Classter blocks the action because it exceeds the configured 6-month limit. The latest allowed month for an installment date in this arrangement is March 2027.
When to Use
Use this setting when your institution wants to ensure that all installments tied to an academic period are collected within a bounded, predictable timeframe after that period begins, avoiding open-ended payment plans that stretch across multiple future periods. Configure a larger number of months for longer payment plans, or a smaller number to require faster completion of payments.
Notes
- Prerequisites: this setting is enforced only when Enable arrangement constraints/Enable_Arrangement_Constrains is turned on.
- Related settings: At least one installment other than prepayment should be with an agreed payment date X days before the end of the current main period (At_least_one_installment_other_than_prepayment_should_be_with_an_agreed_payment_date_X_days_before_the_end_of_the_current_main_period_where_X_is in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls), Maximum number of allowed installments is (Max_number_of_allowed_installments_is in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls), Enable arrangement constraints (Enable_Arrangement_Constrains in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls).
This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
