Minimum prepayment/deposit percentage

Overview

The ‘Minimum prepayment/deposit percentage’ setting (Setting ID: Min_Prepayment_Deposit_Percentage) is located in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Arrangement Constraints & Controls sub-group.

What This Setting Does

This setting lets you define the minimum percentage of the total arrangement value that a _Student_’s initial prepayment or deposit installment must represent, when creating a financial arrangement. It ensures the first payment collected is proportional to the overall amount owed, rather than a small or negligible fraction of it.

Where It Is Used

This setting feeds the Prepayment Percentage field on the arrangement creation form.

  • Main Menu > Students > Students List > (open a _Student_) > Financial Data tab > New/Edit Arrangement > Arrangement Installments section – the Prepayment Percentage field in the Easy Creation area is validated against this minimum when building a _Student_’s payment plan.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • This setting defines a minimum percentage value that the prepayment/deposit installment must equal or exceed, relative to the total value of the financial arrangement.
  • If a user attempts to create or save an arrangement with a prepayment/deposit percentage lower than this configured value, Classter prevents the action or displays a validation message.
  • This setting works alongside Minimum prepayment/deposit amount/Min_Prepayment_Deposit_Amount, giving institutions the flexibility to enforce a deposit rule based on either a fixed amount, a percentage, or both.

Example(s)

Alpha Institute sets this value to 10 percent, requiring that the prepayment/deposit for any financial arrangement be at least 10 percent of the total arrangement value. When staff member Mr. Carter creates a $1,000 arrangement for Student Ms. Johnson and sets the prepayment/deposit at only $50 (5 percent), Classter flags this as below the configured 10 percent minimum and prevents the arrangement from being saved until the deposit is raised to at least $100 (10 percent of the $1,000 total).

When to Use

Use this setting when your institution wants deposit requirements to scale proportionally with the total value of each arrangement, rather than always using the same fixed amount regardless of the arrangement’s size. This is typically configured together with enabling arrangement constraints and other related deposit and installment rules.

Notes

  • Prerequisites: this setting is enforced only when Enable arrangement constraints/Enable_Arrangement_Constrains is turned on.
  • Related settings: Minimum prepayment/deposit amount (Min_Prepayment_Deposit_Amount in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls), Maximum number of allowed installments is (Max_number_of_allowed_installments_is in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls), and Enable arrangement constraints (Enable_Arrangement_Constrains in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls).

This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
