Overview

Application Categories are used to classify applicants and to apply specific rules to each category during the admission process, such as an age restriction. By assigning a category to an application, the institution can control how that application behaves, for example, whether it proceeds as a normal submission or is flagged as provisional until certain requirements (age, marks, or special educational needs information) are met.

To manage Application Categories, navigate to CONFIGURATION > Admission > Dropdown Lists and select Application Category from the Dropdown lists field.

Create New Application Category

Click on +Add New to create a new category.

The Create New pop-up window opens with the following options:

  1. Active: Enable this option to make the category available for selection in applications. Disabled categories remain stored but are not visible to applicants.
  2. Description: Enter the name of the category as it should appear in the application (e.g., “Normal”, “Provisional for special streams”).
  3. Application Category Type: Select the type from the drop-down list. The type defines how the application behaves for this category:
  • Normal (all requirements are met and the applicant may proceed with a standard application).
  • Provisional (the application has outstanding requirements, so it is submitted with a provisional status)
  • Provisional – Maturity / Marks / SEN (the application is provisional and depends on the applicant meeting a specific age, attaining specific marks, or providing information regarding special educational needs).

  1. Age Restriction: Enter the age limit that applies to this category.
  2. Global Code: Enter the code used to identify the category within the institution. This code varies from institution to institution and is defined by the institution’s administrator.
  3. Verify Submit Info: Enter the information that is presented to applicants so they can verify their application before submission.
  4. Click on Save to create the new category.

Edit an Application Category

Click on the Edit (pencil) icon next to an existing category. The Edit pop-up window opens, containing the same fields described in the Create a New Application Category section above. Make the necessary changes and click on Save to apply them.

Additional Actions

  • Reorder: Click on a column header to sort the categories in ascending or descending order.
  • Copy / Delete: Use the copy icons to duplicate a category, or the delete button to remove it.
  • Print / Export: Use the icons above the grid to print the list or export it to Excel or CSV. Hover over any button to see a tooltip describing its function.
  • Search: Use the Search field at the top right of the grid to find a specific category.
