Groups Will Show In The Subject Enrollments

Updated on July 10, 2026

1 min to read

Overview

This setting (Groups_Will_Show_In_The_Subject_Enrollments) is located in Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration, under the Group Enrollments group.

What This Setting Does

This setting controls which _Groups_ Classter offers for selection when a _Student_ is being enrolled into a _Subject_. It can either list every _Group_ connected to that _Subject_, or narrow the list down to only the _Groups_ whose _Grade_ matches the _Grade_ of the _Student_’s educational program, making the enrollment list shorter and more relevant.

Where It Is Used

This setting has no dedicated screen of its own; it is applied automatically by Classter whenever the list of available _Groups_ is generated for Subject enrollment on Main Menu > Management > Students > Students List > [click a _Student_] > Edit form > Subjects/Course Enrollments tab.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • This is a single-select setting with two options. The default is All Groups connected to the Subject.
  • All Groups connected to the Subject: Classter shows every _Group_ that the selected _Subject_ is enrolled to, regardless of _Grade_.
  • All Groups connected to the Subject belonging to the same Grade of Student’s educational program: Classter filters the list down to only the _Groups_ that (1) have the selected _Subject_ enrolled and (2) have a _Grade_ identical to the _Grade_ of the _Student_’s educational program.

Example(s)

At Alpha Institute, the Algebra _Subject_ is connected to two _Groups_: Grade 9 Algebra A and Grade 11 Algebra B. Administrator Liam sets this setting to All Groups connected to the Subject belonging to the same Grade of Student’s educational program. When _Student_ Ella P., whose educational program is in Grade 9, is enrolled into Algebra, Classter only offers Grade 9 Algebra A in the enrollment list, hiding Grade 11 Algebra B. If the setting had been left on the default option, both _Groups_ would have appeared in the list.

When to Use

Use the default All Groups connected to the Subject option when the institution wants staff to see every possible _Group_ option for a _Subject_, regardless of _Grade_, for example when _Students_ from different _Grades_ can share the same _Subject_ _Group_. Use the Grade-filtered option when the institution wants the enrollment list to automatically narrow down to only the _Groups_ that match the _Student_’s own _Grade_, reducing the chance of an incorrect selection.

Notes

Prerequisite: none.

  • Related settings: Enable timetable conflict validations in Subject enrollments (Enable_Timetable_Conflict_Validations_In_Subject_Enrollments in Student Form Registration > Subject Enrollments).
  • Related settings: Allow Students added to Groups of different Timetable Zone or Section (Allow_Students_Added_To_Groups_Of_Different_Timetable_Zone_Or_Section in Student Form Registration > Group Enrollments).

K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
