Overview
Automatically set the number of future Academic periods from Pricing Category selected is a setting located under Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Multiperiod Financial Arrangement Settings sub-group.
What This Setting Does
This setting allows Classter to automatically determine how many future academic periods a multiperiod financial arrangement should remain active for, based on the pricing category selected for that arrangement. Instead of a staff member manually entering the number of periods, Classter derives it from the pricing category configuration.
Where It Is Used
This setting is applied while a multiperiod financial arrangement is being built for a _Student_.
- Main Menu > Management > Students List > (open a _Student_) > Financial tab – selecting a pricing category on a new arrangement automatically sets the number of future academic periods the arrangement stays active for.
- Main Menu > Financial > Arrangements List > Mass Arrangement Creation – the same automatic period calculation applies when creating arrangements in bulk based on pricing category.
Business Logic / Behavior
-
This is an on/off checkbox setting, disabled by default.
- When enabled, the number of future academic periods for a multiperiod arrangement is automatically set based on the pricing category chosen, rather than requiring manual entry.
- When disabled (default), the number of future academic periods must be entered or configured manually.
- This setting depends on the Multiperiod Financial Arrangement feature being enabled, since it only applies when arrangements can span multiple academic periods.
Example(s)
Example: Polytechnic Alpha offers a pricing category called “4-Semester Package” configured with a period count of 4. When a finance officer selects that pricing category on a new multiperiod arrangement created in Fall 2026 for a _Student_, Classter automatically sets the arrangement to remain active through Spring 2027, Fall 2027, and Spring 2028 (4 periods total, starting with Fall 2026), without the officer needing to manually type “4” into a period-count field.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable this setting if your institution has pricing categories that already imply a fixed number of academic periods (for example, a multi-semester package), and you want Classter to apply that number automatically for consistency and to reduce manual errors.
When to Disable
Disable this setting (the default) if the number of future academic periods should always be entered or reviewed manually by staff, regardless of the pricing category chosen.
Notes
Prerequisites: Requires Enable Multiperiod Financial Arrangement to be enabled, and pricing categories to be configured with an associated period count.
