Overview
The ‘Enable arrangement constraints’ setting (Setting ID: Enable_Arrangement_Constrains) is located in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Arrangement Constraints & Controls sub-group.
What This Setting Does
This setting acts as a master switch that turns on a set of validation rules governing how financial arrangements and their installments can be created for _Students_. When enabled, Classter enforces the other related constraint settings in this same sub-group, such as minimum deposit amounts, maximum number of installments, and allowed payment dates. When disabled, none of those constraint rules are applied, and staff can create arrangements and installments more freely.
Where It Is Used
This setting controls the arrangement creation and editing form used across several entry points.
- Main Menu > Students > Students List > (open a _Student_) > Financial Data tab > New/Edit Arrangement – this is the main screen where the setting turns installment validation on or off while building or editing a _Student_’s payment plan.
- Main Menu > Students > Students List > (select multiple _Students_) > Mass Arrangement Creation – the same constraint toggle governs installment validation when creating arrangements in bulk for several _Students_ at once.
- Main Menu > Financial > Financial Settings > Dropdown lists > Arrangement Plan tab > New/Edit Arrangement Plan – the same setting is also read here when defining a reusable installment plan template.
Business Logic / Behavior
- When turned on, this setting activates enforcement of all other configured settings in the Arrangement Constraints & Controls sub-group, such as minimum prepayment/deposit requirements, maximum installment counts, and allowed installment payment dates.
- When turned off, none of those related constraint rules are enforced, regardless of how they are individually configured, since this is the overall gate for the entire rule set.
- This setting is positioned first in the Arrangement Constraints & Controls sub-group, ahead of all other related numeric/toggle constraint settings.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute wants to enforce a $100 minimum deposit and a maximum of 10 installments for all _Student_ payment plans. The finance administrator, Mr. Carter, first enables this setting, then configures Minimum prepayment/deposit amount to $100 and Maximum number of allowed installments is to 10.
From that point on, when staff try to save a new $3,000 financial arrangement for Student Ms. Johnson with only a $40 deposit split across 14 installments, Classter rejects the save because it fails both the $100 minimum deposit and the 10-installment maximum. If Mr. Carter later disables this setting, that same $40 deposit and 14-installment arrangement would save without any error, since neither limit is checked anymore even though the values 100 and 10 remain configured.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable this setting when your institution wants to enforce structured, consistent rules around how financial arrangements and installments are created, such as requiring minimum deposits, limiting the number of installments, or restricting which dates installments can be scheduled on.
When to Disable
Disable this setting if your institution prefers full flexibility when creating financial arrangements, allowing staff to set any deposit amount, any number of installments, and any payment dates without system-enforced restrictions.
Notes
- Prerequisites: none; this is the master setting that other Arrangement Constraints & Controls settings depend on.
- Related settings: Minimum prepayment/deposit amount (Min_Prepayment_Deposit_Amount in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls), Maximum number of allowed installments is (Max_number_of_allowed_installments_is in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls), Do not allow any installment with an agreed payment date before the prepayment/deposit agreed date (Do_not_allow_any_installment_with_an_agreed_payment_date_before_the_prepayment_deposit_agreed_date in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Constraints & Controls).
This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
