Enable Arrangement To Be Set Active For A Number Of Academic Periods

Updated on July 6, 2026

1 min to read

Overview

Enable Multiperiod Financial Arrangement (Arrangement to be ACTIVE for a number of future Academic periods) is a setting located under Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Multiperiod Financial Arrangement Settings sub-group.

What This Setting Does

This setting enables a feature that allows a single financial arrangement to remain active across more than one future academic period, instead of being limited to just the current academic period. This lets an institution set up one arrangement for a _Student_ that continues to apply over several upcoming terms or years.

Where It Is Used

This setting enables the multiperiod behavior wherever financial arrangements are created, listed, or filtered.

  • Main Menu > Management > Students List > (open a _Student_) > Financial tab – the arrangement form allows an arrangement to be set active across a number of future academic periods.
  • Main Menu > Financial > Arrangements List – the list’s filters and mass-edit options (including the Mass Edit Arrangements action) reflect whether multiperiod arrangements are enabled.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • This is an on/off checkbox setting, disabled by default.
  • When enabled, arrangements can be configured to stay active for a specified number of future academic periods rather than only the current one.
  • When disabled (default), arrangements apply only to the academic period in which they are created.
  • This setting is a prerequisite/enabler for other multiperiod-related settings in the same sub-group, such as automatically determining the number of future periods.

Example(s)

Example: at University A, a _Student_’s tuition arrangement is created in Fall 2026, and the finance administrator enables this setting so the arrangement can be configured to remain active for 4 future academic periods. Instead of staff creating a brand-new arrangement every term, the same arrangement automatically stays active through Spring 2027, Fall 2027, Spring 2028, and Fall 2028, before it needs to be reviewed or renewed again.

When to Use

When to Enable

Enable this setting if your institution wants financial arrangements to automatically remain active across several future academic periods, reducing the need to manually recreate arrangements each period.

When to Disable

Disable this setting (the default) if arrangements should only ever apply to a single academic period at a time, requiring a new arrangement for each subsequent period.

Notes

Prerequisites: This setting should be enabled before configuring the related setting that automatically determines the number of future academic periods from the pricing category.

  • Related setting: Automatically Set The Number Of Future Academic Periods From Selected Pricing Category (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Multiperiod Financial Arrangement Settings)
  • Related setting: Enable Autoselection Of Financial Year For All Installments When An Arrangement Is Created (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > New Arrangement Settings)
  • Related setting: Default Arrangement Plan (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > New Arrangement Settings)

This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education) is enabled or disabled.
