Overview
The “Enable financial arrangement creation for stopped services” is a setting located under Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Basic Settings sub-group.
What This Setting Does
This setting controls whether Classter will still suggest creating a financial arrangement for a service that has already been stopped (deactivated) for a _Student_. Normally, arrangement suggestions are generated only for active services a _Student_ is enrolled in; this setting extends that behavior to include services that are no longer active.
Where It Is Used
This setting works silently in the background, without a dedicated Portal control or field. It affects whether a new financial arrangement can still be created or suggested for a stopped/inactive service.
- Main Menu > Management > Students List > (open a _Student_) > Financial tab – when creating a new arrangement for a service-based activity, this setting determines in the background whether a stopped service is still eligible to be included.
- Main Menu > Financial > Arrangements List – the same background check applies to mass/bulk arrangement creation actions started from this screen.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is an on/off checkbox setting, disabled by default.
- When enabled, a financial arrangement suggestion is created even for services that have been stopped.
- When disabled (default), stopped services are excluded from automatic arrangement suggestions.
- This is useful for retroactive billing scenarios, where a service was used before being stopped and still needs to be billed.
Example(s)
Example: at Alpha International School, a _Student_ was enrolled in an after-school transportation service billed at $80 per month. The family moved closer to school and stopped the service effective October 15, 2026, after only 1.5 months of use in the fall term (September 1 to October 15). The finance office still needs to bill the $120 owed for that partial period.
The administrator enables this setting, so Classter still generates a financial arrangement suggestion for the $120 owed on the stopped service, instead of silently excluding it because it is no longer active.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable this setting if your institution needs to bill for services after they have been stopped or deactivated, ensuring no partial usage goes unbilled.
When to Disable
Disable this setting (the default) if you only want arrangement suggestions to be generated for services that are currently active, and stopped services should not generate new billing suggestions.
Notes
Prerequisites: None specific beyond having services configured with a stop/termination capability.
- Related setting: Enable Financial Period selection per arrangement installment (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Basic Settings)
- Related setting: Do Not Allow Educational Program Change To Registered If No Active Financial Agreement (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Basic Settings)
- Related setting: Delete Arrangement When The Selected User Types Terminate/Stop A Service (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Modifications)
This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education) is enabled or disabled.
