Forbid any arrangement modification once a related financial transaction is saved

Updated on July 7, 2026

Overview

Forbid any arrangement modification once a related financial transaction is saved/Forbid_any_arrangement_modification_once_a_related_financial_transaction_is_saved is a setting located under Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Arrangement Modifications sub-group.

What This Setting Does

This setting locks a financial arrangement from further changes as soon as a financial transaction (such as a payment or invoice) linked to it has been saved. This protects the integrity of financial records by preventing arrangements from being altered after money has already moved or been recorded against them.

Where It Is Used

This setting is checked whenever someone tries to modify an existing financial arrangement that already has a related transaction.

  • Main Menu > Management > Students List > (open a _Student_) > Financial tab – editing or saving changes to an arrangement here is blocked once a related financial transaction has been saved.
  • Main Menu > Financial > Arrangements List – the same lock applies to arrangement edits and deletions attempted from the arrangements grid.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • This is an on/off checkbox setting, disabled by default.
  • When enabled, any modification to an arrangement is forbidden once a related financial transaction has been saved against it.
  • When disabled (default), arrangements can continue to be modified even after related financial transactions exist.
  • This serves as a data-integrity safeguard, reducing the risk of mismatches between recorded payments/invoices and the arrangement terms they were based on.

Example(s)

Example: at Alpha College, a _Student_’s tuition arrangement totals $5,000, split into 10 installments of $500 each. Once the first $500 payment is recorded against installment 1 on September 10, 2026, a staff member later tries to change the amount of installment 3 from $500 to $400. Because this setting is enabled and a financial transaction already exists for that arrangement, Classter blocks the change and the installment amounts remain locked at $500 each.

When to Use

When to Enable

Enable this setting if your institution wants to strictly prevent any changes to an arrangement once real financial activity (payments, invoices) has been recorded against it, protecting financial accuracy and audit integrity.

When to Disable

Disable this setting (the default) if your institution needs the flexibility to continue adjusting arrangements even after financial transactions have already been saved against them.

Notes

Prerequisites: None beyond the arrangement having at least one related financial transaction for this rule to apply.

  • Related setting: Automatically Readjust the Billing Plan for billed arrangements that get reduced in value/Anaprosarmogi_Planou_APY_Gia_Diakanonismous_Me_Timologisi (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Modifications)
  • Related setting: Enable Non Required Status For Installments/Enable_Non_Required_Status_For_Installments (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Installment Properties)
  • Related setting: Delete Arrangement When The Selected User Types Terminate/Stop A Service/Delete_Arrangement_When_User_Stops_Service (Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangement Modifications)

This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
