Overview
Merge of how installments are presenting in Student/parent portal/Merge_of_how_installments_are_presenting_in_Student_parent_Portal is a setting located under Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Arrangements Visibility to Payers sub-group.
What This Setting Does
This setting controls how the list of installments for a financial Arrangement is displayed to Students and parents in the portal. Institutions can choose to show installments as they normally are, to group and merge similar installments under multiple lines, or to merge them into a single combined line, changing how detailed or simplified the installment list looks to Students and their families.
Where It Is Used
This setting was found directly referenced in the Portal code. It affects the following screen:
- Main Menu > Financial (Student/parent portal) – the Arrangements and installments section of this screen reads this setting to decide whether to list installments individually, group them, or merge them into a single summary line.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is a single-select (dropdown) setting with three available options: Disable (installments shown individually with no merging), Merge and group under multiple lines, and Merge into one line.
- When set to Disable, the default behavior, installments are shown as separate individual line items exactly as configured in the Arrangement.
- When set to Merge and group under multiple lines, similar or related installments are consolidated into a smaller number of grouped lines rather than every individual installment being listed.
- When set to Merge into one line, all installments for the Arrangement are combined and presented as a single summarized line in the portal.
Example(s)
At Alpha Institute, a Student named Leah P. has a financial Arrangement with twelve monthly installments of $250 each, totaling $3,000 for the year. The administration sets this setting to “Merge into one line” to simplify the portal view. When Leah’s parent logs in, instead of seeing twelve separate $250 installment rows, they see a single combined summary line showing the full $3,000 Arrangement total and how much of it remains unpaid.
When to Use
Use the Disable option when detailed, itemized installment visibility is preferred for Students and parents. Use “Merge and group under multiple lines” when the institution wants some simplification while still showing meaningful groupings. Use “Merge into one line” when the goal is the simplest possible view, showing only a single overall summary rather than individual installments.
Notes
No other setting must be enabled first for this to take effect; it independently controls the display format of installments in the portal.
- Show Discount Details in _Student_/Parents Portal (Show_Discount_Details_in_Students_Parents_Portal in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangements Visibility to Payers)
- Student Status enabled for Financial Agreement presentation (Student_Status_Enabled_For_Financial_Agreement_Presentation in Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters > Arrangements Visibility to Payers)
This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
