Use Assessment Types On Graphs

Updated on July 8, 2026

Overview

Display label: Use Assessment Types On Graphs

Setting ID: UseAssessmentTypesOnGraphs

Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Mobile App > Assessments

What This Setting Does

This setting lets the institution choose which assessment types are included when building the Assessment Analytics graphs in the Classter mobile app. Instead of including every assessment a student has taken, the graphs can be limited to only the assessment types selected here.

Where It Is Used

This setting has no dedicated configuration screen of its own, but the list of assessment types it offers is drawn directly from the Examination Types configured for your institution. In the mobile app, it affects the Assessment Analytics graphs: when a student, parent, or teacher opens the analytics view, only assessments whose type is included in this setting are counted and charted.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • The list of choices is built from the Examination Types configured for the institution.
  • If no assessment types are selected, the mobile app includes every assessment type in the analytics graphs (no filtering is applied).
  • If one or more assessment types are selected, only assessments of those types are included when the graphs and any district comparison numbers are calculated.
  • This setting applies consistently to both the individual student’s chart and any district comparison figures shown alongside it.

Example(s)

Alpha Institute runs frequent short quizzes in addition to formal mid-term and final examinations, but only wants the formal examinations reflected in the mobile app’s performance graphs. The administrator opens this setting and selects only the Mid-Term Examination and Final Examination types, leaving Quiz unselected.

After saving, when teacher Robert N. views the assessment analytics for his student Chloe S. in the mobile app, the graph now plots only her mid-term and final examination results; her quiz scores no longer appear in that chart, though they remain visible in her regular grade records.

When to Use

Use this setting when you want the mobile app’s assessment graphs to focus on specific, more significant assessment types (such as formal examinations) rather than mixing in every type of assessment recorded for a student.

Notes

Prerequisites: at least one Examination Type must be configured for your institution for this setting to offer any choices.

  • Related settings:
  • Show District Comparison Numbers (Show_District_Comparison_Numbers in Mobile App > Assessments)
  • Related configuration: Examination Types (Assessment/Examination type configuration used across Classter)

K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting behaves the same regardless of institution type.
