Overview
This setting (Allow_Students_Added_To_Groups_Of_Different_Timetable_Zone_Or_Section) is located in Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration, under the Group Enrollments group.
What This Setting Does
This setting controls whether a _Student_ can be enrolled into a _Group_ whose Timetable Zone or Section is different from the _Student_’s own educational program Zone or Section. When allowed, staff have the flexibility to cross-enroll _Students_ into _Groups_ outside their usual Zone or Section. When not allowed, _Group_ enrollment is restricted to _Groups_ that match the _Student_’s Zone or Section.
Where It Is Used
This setting has no dedicated screen of its own; it is applied automatically by Classter whenever a _Student_ is enrolled into a _Group_ on Main Menu > Management > Students > Students List > [click a _Student_] > Edit form > Subjects/Course Enrollments tab.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is an on/off checkbox setting. The default value is enabled (True).
- When enabled (the default), _Students_ can be added to _Groups_ that belong to a different Timetable Zone or Section than their own educational program.
- When disabled, _Group_ enrollment is restricted to _Groups_ whose Timetable Zone or Section matches the _Student_’s educational program.
- In College/Higher Education installations, this setting can be overridden by the automated enrollment filter Include only Groups with Section equal to the Educational Program’s Zone/Section, which enforces the same-Zone rule for the automated enrollment process regardless of this setting’s value.
Example(s)
At Alpha Institute, administrator Julia disables this setting. Student Victor A.’s educational program is connected to the North Campus Zone. When staff try to enroll Victor into a Statistics _Group_ that is connected to the South Campus Zone, Classter blocks the enrollment because the Zones do not match. If Julia had left the setting enabled (the default), Victor could have been enrolled into the South Campus Statistics _Group_ without restriction.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable this setting (the default) when the institution wants flexibility to enroll _Students_ into _Groups_ regardless of Timetable Zone or Section, for example when campuses or sections share some common _Groups_.
When to Disable
Disable this setting when the institution wants to strictly keep _Students_ enrolled only in _Groups_ that match their own Timetable Zone or Section, preventing accidental cross-Zone enrollments.

K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting is specifically intended for Higher Education / College institutions and is scoped to that module; in standard K-12 configurations, Group enrollment across Zones or Sections is handled without this setting.
