Overview
This setting (Automated_Enrollments_Enable_Only_For_Streams_With_Mandatory_Subjects) is located in Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration, under the Automated Groups/Subjects enrollments group.
What This Setting Does
This setting narrows down the automated _Group_/_Subject_ enrollment process so that it only runs for _Students_ whose educational program belongs to a Stream that itself has the Mandatory Subjects option enabled at the Stream configuration level. Streams without that option enabled are skipped by the automated process.
Where It Is Used
This setting runs automatically in the background with no dedicated screen. It is evaluated every time the automated enrollment process runs, triggered when a _Student_’s educational program is created or changed on Main Menu > Management > Students > Students List > [click a _Student_] > Edit form > Educational Program / School Registrations tab.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is an on/off checkbox setting. The default value is disabled (False).
- When enabled, the automated enrollment process only runs for _Students_ whose educational program Stream has the Mandatory Subjects option enabled.
- When disabled (the default), the automated enrollment process runs regardless of whether the _Student_’s Stream has the Mandatory Subjects option enabled.
- This setting only has an effect when the master switch, Enable the automated enrollment of Students to Groups/Subjects upon education program creation or change, is enabled.
Example(s)
At Alpha Institute, the Science Stream has Mandatory Subjects enabled, while the General Stream does not. Administrator Karen enables this setting together with the master automated enrollment switch. When _Student_ Ryan O. is registered into a Science Stream educational program, the automated enrollment process runs and enrolls him into the required _Groups_ and _Subjects_. When _Student_ Priya S. is registered into a General Stream educational program, the automated process is skipped entirely for her, because the General Stream does not have Mandatory Subjects enabled.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable this setting when the institution only wants the automated enrollment process to run for Streams that have a defined set of Mandatory Subjects, leaving Streams without that configuration to be enrolled manually.
When to Disable
Disable this setting (the default) when the institution wants the automated enrollment process to run for all Streams, regardless of whether Mandatory Subjects is configured on them.
Notes
Prerequisite: this setting only takes effect when Enable_Automated_Enrollment_Of_Students_To_Groups_Subjects_On_Education_Program_Change is enabled.

K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
