Do Not Allow The Enrollment Of An Additional Educational Program In The Same Grade

Updated on July 9, 2026

2 min to read

Overview

Setting label: Do not allow the enrollment of an additional educational program in the same Grade

Setting ID: Do_Not_Allow_The_Enrollment_Of_An_Additional_Educational_Program_In_The_Same_Grade

Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration tab, Educational Program Parameters group

What This Setting Does

This setting blocks staff from submitting a second educational program registration for a _Student_ in the same _Grade_ if one has already been submitted. It prevents accidental duplicate enrollments within the same _Grade_.

Where It Is Used

Main Menu > Students > Students List > Create (or Edit) > Educational Program section.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • When enabled, if a _Student_ already has an educational program registration for a given _Grade_, staff cannot submit another educational program registration for that same _Grade_.
  • The block applies specifically at the _Grade_ level; educational program registrations for a different _Grade_ are not affected.
  • When disabled, staff can submit more than one educational program registration for the same _Student_ in the same _Grade_.

Example(s)

Alpha Institute enables this setting. _Student_ Noah B. already has an educational program registration for Grade 7 for the 2026-2027 period. When registrar Wendy O. tries to submit a second educational program registration for Noah also in Grade 7, Classter blocks the submission and displays a message that an educational program already exists for that Grade.

When to Use

When to Enable

Enable this setting when the institution’s process should guarantee exactly one active educational program registration per _Student_ per _Grade_, to avoid confusing or conflicting duplicate records.

When to Disable

Disable this setting if the institution has legitimate cases where a _Student_ needs more than one educational program registration within the same _Grade_, such as parallel tracks or split programs.

Notes

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Enable Configuration for Higher Education is on or off.
