Educational Program Registration Numbering Format

Updated on July 10, 2026

Overview

The Educational program Registration Number format (Auto Mode) setting (Educational_Program_Registration_Numbering_Format) is located in Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration, under the Educational Program Registration Numbering group.

What This Setting Does

This setting defines the exact text pattern Classter uses when it automatically generates the Registration Number for a _Student_’s educational program enrollment. The pattern can include fixed text plus placeholders for parts of the number, letting the institution control things like prefixes, suffixes, and how the number is padded. When a valid pattern is configured, it overrides Classter’s default, built-in numbering logic. Any part of a calculated number that has no matching formation rule in the pattern is left out of the final result.

Where It Is Used

This setting has no dedicated screen of its own; it is applied automatically by Classter’s Registration Number generator whenever a Registration Number is calculated for a _Student_’s educational program, and the generated number then appears as the Registration Number field on Main Menu > Students > Students List > Manage > Add/Edit Student > Educational Program tab.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • This is a free-text pattern setting; it has no effect unless automatic Registration Number numbering is also enabled.
  • When a pattern is configured, every automatically generated Registration Number follows that pattern instead of Classter’s default numbering format.
  • When left empty, Classter falls back to its default systemic numbering logic for the Registration Number.
  • Any calculated number segment that does not have a corresponding formation rule in the configured pattern is excluded from the generated number.

Example(s)

At Alpha Institute, administrator Chris enables automatic Registration Number numbering and configures this setting with a pattern that produces a 4-digit, year-prefixed number. When _Student_ Leah F. is registered into the Nursing educational program in September 2026, Classter automatically generates the Registration Number 2026-0143 for her enrollment, following the configured pattern instead of a plain sequential number.

When to Use

Use this setting when the institution needs its automatically generated educational program Registration Numbers to follow a specific format, for example including an academic year prefix or a fixed number of digits, rather than using Classter’s default numbering pattern. Leave it empty to rely on the default numbering logic.

Notes

Prerequisite: this setting only takes effect when automatic Registration Number numbering (Enable automatic Registration numbering/Automati_Arithmisi_Mathitologiou) is enabled.

  • Related settings: Enable automatic Registration numbering (Automati_Arithmisi_Mathitologiou in Student Form Registration > Educational Program Registration Numbering).
  • Related settings: Change Registration Numbers of Students when they are transferred to a new Academic Period (Allagi_Arithmisis_Mathitologiou_Otan_Allazei_H_Periodos in Student Form Registration > Educational Program Registration Numbering).

K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
