Overview

Setting label: Enable Drop Off Indicator

Setting ID: Enable_DropOffIndicator

Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration tab, Drop Off Indicator & Disable Reregistration Settings group

 

What This Setting Does

This setting turns on the Drop Off Indicator field on the educational program section of the _Student_ form. The Drop Off Indicator is used to flag that a _Student_’s educational program has been dropped, using a configurable list of drop off reasons, separately from the program’s regular status field.

 

Where It Is Used

Main Menu > Students > Students List > Create (or Edit) > Educational Program section, Drop Off Indicator field.

 

Business Logic / Behavior

  • When enabled, a Drop Off Indicator field is displayed on the educational program section, letting staff select one of the configured drop off reasons for that educational program.
  • When disabled, the Drop Off Indicator field is hidden from the educational program section and cannot be set on any _Student_ record.
  • The values available in the Drop Off Indicator field are drawn from the Drop Off Indicator list configured for the institution.

 

Example(s)

Alpha Institute enables this setting and has configured Drop Off Indicator reasons including Financial Difficulty and Relocation. When registrar Laura C. processes the withdrawal of _Student_ Ethan W. from his Grade 6 educational program on 12 October 2026, she sets the Drop Off Indicator to Relocation, recording the specific reason the family gave for leaving.

 

When to Use

 

When to Enable

Enable this setting when the institution wants to track and report on the specific reasons _Students_ drop out of an educational program, beyond simply marking the program as inactive.

When to Disable

Disable this setting if the institution does not need to record a specific drop off reason and a status change alone is sufficient.
