Overview
Setting label: Activation of an alternative field to maintain the actual order of studies based on
Setting ID: Enable_Educational_Program_Actual_Field
Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration tab, Educational Program Parameters group
What This Setting Does
This setting activates an alternative field on the educational program section that is used to track a _Student_’s actual order of studies, currently offering Stream as the available option. When activated, bulk and automatic enrollment processes will use this alternative field to determine _Group_ assignment instead of relying purely on the standard educational program declaration.
Where It Is Used
Main Menu > Students > Students List > Create (or Edit) > Educational Program section, Actual Stream field.
Business Logic / Behavior
- Disabled: no alternative actual field is shown, and bulk and automatic enrollments rely only on the standard educational program declaration.
- Stream: an Actual Stream field is displayed at the educational program level, and bulk and automatic _Group_ enrollments are based on the value entered in this field rather than on the standard Stream declaration.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute sets this setting to Stream. _Student_ Ben F. is officially declared under Stream A in his standard educational program record, but his actual order of studies, tracked in the new Actual Stream field, is set to Stream B following a mid-year change. When the registrar runs a bulk _Group_ enrollment for the Stream population, Classter enrolls Ben based on Actual Stream B rather than the originally declared Stream A.
When to Use
Use this setting when the institution needs to distinguish between a _Student_’s officially declared Stream and the Stream they are actually following for enrollment purposes, and wants bulk or automatic enrollment logic to follow the actual value.
Notes
K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Enable Configuration for Higher Education is on or off.
