Enable FormStatus Type

Updated on July 9, 2026

2 min to read

Overview

Setting label: Enable Type option in Educational Program’s Indication 2, Alternative Indication 1 and Custom Drop down fields values and allow only of the same status of Indication 1

Setting ID: Enable_FormStatus_Type

Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration tab, Educational Program Parameters group

What This Setting Does

This setting links the values available in Indication 2, Alternative Indication 1, and custom drop-down fields of an educational program to the value already selected in Indication 1. When enabled, once a user selects a value in Indication 1, Classter only offers values in the other fields that share the same status as the selected Indication 1 value, helping keep related classifications consistent with one another.

Where It Is Used

Main Menu > Students > Students List > Create (or Edit) > Educational Program section, Indication 2, Alternative Indication 1, and custom drop-down fields.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • When enabled, selecting a value in Indication 1 filters the drop-down options of Indication 2, Alternative Indication 1, and any custom drop-down fields to show only values that share the same status as the selected Indication 1 value.
  • This filtering is a display-only convenience in the user interface; it does not change or restrict values during the reregistration process or during other bulk actions.
  • When disabled, Indication 2, Alternative Indication 1, and custom drop-down fields show their full, unfiltered list of values regardless of what is selected in Indication 1.

Example(s)

Alpha Institute enables this setting. When academic staff Farid R. selects Active as the Indication 1 value on _Student_ Zoe P.’s educational program, the Indication 2 drop down now only shows values also marked as Active, such as Enrolled and In Progress, hiding values like Archived that belong to an inactive status.

When to Use

When to Enable

Enable this setting when the institution wants to prevent staff from combining mismatched status classifications across Indication 1, Indication 2, Alternative Indication 1, and custom drop down fields during day-to-day data entry.

When to Disable

Disable this setting when the institution needs full freedom to combine any values across these fields regardless of status, or when the status-based grouping does not apply to how the institution uses these fields.

Notes

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Enable Configuration for Higher Education is on or off.
