Overview
This setting (Group_Categories_Enabled_For_Automated_Enrollment_Of_Group_Subjects) is located in Main Settings > General Settings > Student Form Registration, under the Automated Groups/Subjects enrollments group.
What This Setting Does
This setting limits the automated _Group_/_Subject_ enrollment process to _Groups_ of the selected Group Categories, for the currently active Academic Period. _Groups_ whose category is not selected here are excluded from the automated matching.
Where It Is Used
This setting runs automatically in the background with no dedicated screen. It is evaluated every time the automated enrollment process runs, triggered when a _Student_’s educational program is created or changed on Main Menu > Management > Students > Students List > [click a _Student_] > Edit form > Educational Program / School Registrations tab.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is a multi-select setting; the list of Group Categories is configured elsewhere, per Academic Period, and selected here.
- When one or more Group Categories are selected, the automated enrollment process only considers _Groups_ of those categories.
- If the list is left empty, no Group Category filtering is applied and the automated process is not restricted by category.
- This setting only has an effect when the master switch, Enable the automated enrollment of Students to Groups/Subjects upon education program creation or change, is enabled.
Example(s)
At Alpha Institute, _Groups_ are organized into categories Academic and Sports for the 2026-2027 Academic Period. Administrator Renee selects only Academic in this setting. When _Student_ Sofia R.’s educational program is created, the automated enrollment process considers Academic-category _Groups_ such as Grade 10 History, but ignores Sports-category _Groups_ such as the Basketball _Group_, even if Sofia would otherwise be eligible for both.
When to Use
Use this setting when automated enrollment should be limited to specific kinds of _Groups_ within an Academic Period, such as only academic _Groups_, while other categories continue to require manual enrollment. Leave the list empty if the automated process should consider _Groups_ of every category.

Prerequisite: this setting only takes effect when Enable_Automated_Enrollment_Of_Students_To_Groups_Subjects_On_Education_Program_Change is enabled.

K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting behaves the same regardless of whether Higher Education Mode (Enable Configuration for Higher Education/Xrisi_parametropoihshs_kolegiou) is enabled or disabled.
