What This Setting Does
This setting changes how the Registration Date of an educational program is set. Instead of using the date on which the educational program status was selected, Classter sets the Registration Date to the date of the _Student_’s first contact with the institution.
Where It Is Used
Main Menu > Students > Students List > Create (or Edit) > Educational Program section, Registration Date field.
Business Logic / Behavior
- When enabled, the Registration Date of an educational program is automatically set to match the _Student_’s recorded first contact date, rather than the date the status was chosen on the form.
- When disabled, the Registration Date continues to reflect the date on which the educational program status was selected.
- This setting affects how the Registration Date is calculated at the time the educational program is saved; it does not retroactively change Registration Dates already recorded on existing educational programs.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute enables this setting. _Student_ Anna K. first contacted the institution on 3 March 2026, but her educational program status was only selected and saved by registrar Peter D. on 15 March 2026. Because this setting is enabled, Classter sets Anna’s educational program Registration Date to 3 March 2026, matching her first contact date, instead of 15 March 2026.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable this setting when the institution measures enrollment timelines, reporting, or follow-up processes from the moment a _Student_ first got in touch, rather than from the moment paperwork was completed in the system.
When to Disable
Disable this setting when the Registration Date should simply reflect the actual date the status was set on the educational program record, regardless of when first contact occurred.
Notes
K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether Enable Configuration for Higher Education is on or off.
