What This Setting Does
This setting lets the institution choose which custom Educational Program properties should be automatically carried over when a Student’s Educational Program is transferred to a new academic period. Any property not selected here is not copied forward and starts blank in the new period unless another setting fills it in with a default value.
Where It Is Used
This setting has no dedicated screen of its own. It runs automatically in the background whenever a Student’s Educational Program is transferred to a new academic period, whether through a back office transfer (Students > select Student(s) > Transfers) or through Online Re-registration.
Business Logic / Behavior
- The available properties that can be selected to be carried over include: Educational Program Indication, Second Educational Program Indication, Alternative Stream, Alternative Location, Alternative Educational Program Indication, five Lookup fields, four Checkbox fields, three Date fields, three Text fields, External Code, Zone, Alternative Main Group, and Start/End Date.
- Any property included in the selection keeps the exact value it had in the source academic period when the Educational Program is transferred.
- Any property not included in the selection is left blank in the new period, unless a dedicated fallback setting (for example the ones covering Educational Program Indication or Second Educational Program Indication) supplies a default or calculated value.
- This selection is used by the underlying transfer process every time an Educational Program moves from one academic period to another.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute configures this setting to keep Alternative Stream, Alternative Location, and External Code, but leaves Educational Program Indication and Second Educational Program Indication unselected.
When Student Katerina A. is transferred to the new academic period, her Alternative Stream, Alternative Location, and External Code values are copied exactly as they were. Her Educational Program Indication and Second Educational Program Indication start blank in the new period, unless the related fallback settings are configured to calculate or default them.
When to Use
Configure this setting during initial setup of the period-to-period transfer process, and revisit it whenever the institution introduces or retires a custom Educational Program property that should or should not persist across academic periods.

Prerequisites: The custom Educational Program properties referenced in this list should be labeled and configured for the institution before making a selection here.
- Related settings: If the Educational Program Indication property is not configured to be transferred, then calculated based on the promotion status (Transfer_Form_Status_Indicator_To_Period in Period To Period Transfers > Basic Settings)
- Related settings: Default Second Educational Program Indication value (if value is not transferred) (Transfer_Default_Form_Status2 in Period To Period Transfers > Basic Settings)

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether the institution is a K-12 school or a Higher Education institution.
