Overview
Display label: If Educational Program Indication property is not configured to be transferred then calculated based on the promotion status
Setting ID: Transfer_Form_Status_Indicator_To_Period
Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Period To Period Transfers, Basic Settings group
What This Setting Does
This setting provides a fallback for the Educational Program Indication property when a Student’s Educational Program is transferred to a new academic period. If Educational Program Indication was not selected to be carried over, this setting automatically calculates its value in the new period based on the Student’s promotion status instead of leaving it blank.
Where It Is Used
This setting has no dedicated screen of its own. It runs automatically in the background during period-to-period transfer, right after Classter checks whether Educational Program Indication was included in the list of properties to keep.
Business Logic / Behavior
- Only takes effect when Educational Program Indication is not included in the properties selected under Keep the following properties when transferring an educational program from period to period (Educational_Program_Properties_For_Period_Transfer in Period To Period Transfers > Basic Settings).
- When enabled and Educational Program Indication is not being carried over, Classter automatically assigns a value based on the Student’s promotion status for that transfer (for example, whether the Student was promoted, retained, or graduated).
- When disabled, or when Educational Program Indication is already selected to be transferred, no automatic calculation from promotion status takes place through this setting.
- Default value is disabled (False).
Example(s)
Alpha Institute does not include Educational Program Indication in the list of properties to keep during transfer, but enables this setting. Student Nikos C. is promoted from one Grade to the next. When he is transferred to the new academic period, his Educational Program Indication is automatically calculated based on his “promoted” status instead of remaining blank.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable this setting when Educational Program Indication is intentionally excluded from the properties carried over during transfer, but the institution still wants a meaningful value populated automatically based on the Student’s promotion outcome.
When to Disable
Disable this setting when the institution prefers Educational Program Indication to remain blank in the new period whenever it is not explicitly carried over.
Notes
Prerequisites: Promotion status outcomes (promoted, retained, graduated, etc.) must be properly determined during the transfer process for this calculation to produce meaningful results.

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether the institution is a K-12 school or a Higher Education institution.
