What This Setting Does
This setting lets the institution select which Pricing Category should be automatically assigned to a Student’s Educational Program when it is transferred to a new academic period, in cases where the transfer logic decides a default should be used rather than carrying over the previous Pricing Category.
Where It Is Used
This setting has no dedicated screen of its own. It runs automatically in the background during period-to-period transfer, together with The transferred education program should get the following pricing category (Transfer_Educational_Program_Should_Get_The_Following_Pricing_Category in Period To Period Transfers > Basic Settings) setting, whenever a Student is transferred to a new academic period.
Business Logic / Behavior
- Only takes effect when the transferred education program should get the following pricing category (Transfer_Educational_Program_Should_Get_The_Following_Pricing_Category in Period To Period Transfers > Basic Settings) is set to an option that calls for a default Pricing Category (“Default based on setting”, or the mixed option that falls back to the default when the Student has an active arrangement).
- The value selected here is a specific Pricing Category configured for the institution, scoped to the applicable academic period.
- Only Pricing Categories defined at the Educational Program (Grade) level are offered in the selection list.
- If the transferred education program should get the following pricing category is set to keep the source Pricing Category and never fall back to a default, this setting has no effect.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute defines a Pricing Category called “Renewal Tuition 2026” for the 2026-2027 academic period and selects it as the Default Pricing Category. The transferred education program should have the following pricing category setting configured to “Default based on setting”.
When Student Dimitris P. is transferred from 2025-2026 to 2026-2027, his Educational Program’s Pricing Category automatically changes from whatever it was before to “Renewal Tuition 2026”.
When to Use
Configure this setting whenever the institution wants transferred Students to land on a specific, predefined Pricing Category for the new academic period instead of manually reassigning it for each Student.

Prerequisites: The desired Pricing Category must already exist under Financial Settings for the target academic period before it can be selected here.

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether the institution is a K-12 school or a Higher Education institution.
