What This Setting Does
This setting lets the institution choose which additional identification fields – Registration Number and/or Global Registration Number – are shown to Students and Parents in the portal, in addition to the standard identification information that is always displayed.
Where It Is Used
This setting runs automatically with no dedicated screen of its own. It applies wherever the portal shows a _Student_’s identification information to Students and Parents, such as on a profile or personal details view.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is a multi-select setting: none, one, or both of Registration Number and Global Registration Number can be selected.
- If no option is selected, only the standard identification information is shown – no additional fields appear.
- Selecting Registration Number displays the _Student_’s local registration number.
- Selecting Global Registration Number displays a global registration number, used when an institution is part of a wider group of related companies, if the _Student_ has one assigned.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute is part of an academic group that shares a global registration numbering scheme. The administrator selects both Registration Number and Global Registration Number in this setting. When _Student_ Anna K. or her parent Maria D. view Anna’s profile in the portal, both identifiers appear together, for example ‘Registration Number: 2026-0341’ and ‘Global Registration Number: GRP-88213’. If the administrator later clears the Global Registration Number option, only the local Registration Number remains visible.
When to Use
Use this setting when Students and Parents need to see identification numbers for administrative purposes – for example when a _Student_ needs their Registration Number for an external form, or when the institution is part of a larger group and wants to expose the Global Registration Number as well.
Notes
Prerequisites: the Global Registration Number option is only meaningful for institutions that participate in a shared, group-wide registration numbering scheme.
K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting behaves the same regardless of the type of institution.
