Overview

Display label: Please Select Grades To Return Results

Setting ID: Please_Select_Grades_To_Return_Results

Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Student/Parents Portal > Visibility Settings & Rights

What This Setting Does

This setting lets the institution choose which _Grades_ are included when Classter calculates the comparative exam statistics – such as the class average or maximum mark – shown to Students and Parents alongside a _Student_’s own exam results.

Where It Is Used

This setting runs automatically with no dedicated screen of its own. It applies wherever the Student/Parents Portal shows exam or assessment results together with a comparative average or maximum mark for the _Student_’s _Grade_.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • The list of available Grades is the institution’s own _Grade_ list, the same one used for the school’s class structure.
  • Only exam records belonging to the selected Grades are included when Classter calculates the average or maximum mark shown to Students and Parents.
  • If a _Grade_ is not selected, exam records for that _Grade_ are excluded from the comparison calculation, even where the comparison feature is otherwise active.
  • This setting works together with the setting that hides comparative average grades from a _Student_ – if comparisons are hidden entirely, this setting has no visible effect.

Example(s)

Alpha Institute wants _Grade_ 7 and _Grade_ 8 exam results compared against a class average, but not _Grade_ 12, since _Grade_ 12 uses a different grading approach. The administrator selects only _Grade_ 7 and _Grade_ 8 in this setting. When _Student_ Anna K., who is in _Grade_ 8, views her exam result for ‘Mathematics’, she sees her own mark alongside the _Grade_ 8 class average. A _Grade_ 12 student sees only their own mark, with no class average shown, because _Grade_ 12 was not selected.

When to Use

Use this setting to control exactly which Grades participate in comparative exam-result calculations shown to Students and Parents – useful when only some Grades in the institution use a comparable grading scale.

Notes

Prerequisites: the institution’s Grades must already be configured.

  • Related settings: Hide comparative average grades from Student (Check_apokripsi_sigritikwn_bathmologiwn_mathiti in Student/Parents Portal > Visibility Settings & Rights)

Related configuration: _Grades_ (Main Settings > Educational Programs > Grades) – manages the institution’s list of _Grades_, used to determine which _Grades_’ exam results are included in the comparative statistics shown to Students and Parents.

K-12 vs Higher Education: this setting behaves the same regardless of the type of institution.
