Overview
Display label: Select which statuses of attendance entries will present as preselected in attendance Entries list
Setting ID: Select_Which_Statuses_Of_Attendance_Entries_Will_Present_As_Preselected_In_Attendance_Entries_List
Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Student/Parents Portal > Visibility Settings & Rights
What This Setting Does
This setting controls which _Attendance & Progress_ status checkboxes – Absence, Late, or Presence – are already ticked by default when a _Student_ or Parent opens the attendance entries list in the portal, so they do not have to select filters manually every time.
Where It Is Used
Portal > Attendance (the Student/Parent attendance list view). The status filter checkboxes at the top of the attendance entries list are pre-checked according to this setting.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is a multi-select setting covering the three attendance statuses: Absence, Late, and Presence.
- Whatever statuses are selected here appear pre-checked in the filter when the attendance entries list first loads.
- Users can still change the filter after the list loads; this setting only controls the starting, default state.
- If no statuses are selected, the filter opens with nothing pre-checked.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute wants Parents to immediately see genuine absences and late arrivals when they open the attendance list, without needing to filter out ordinary presence records first. The administrator selects Absence and Late in this setting. When parent Maria D. opens the attendance list for her daughter, the Absence and Late checkboxes are already ticked and Presence is unchecked, so the list shows only the relevant exceptions by default. Maria can still tick Presence herself if she wants to see the full record.
When to Use
Use this setting to reduce the effort needed to spot attendance issues – for example pre-selecting Absence and Late so problem records surface immediately when a Parent or _Student_ opens the list, while still letting them add Presence back into the view if needed.
