Overview
Display Label: Present all period _Groups_’ comments regardless _Subjects_
Setting ID: Present_All_Period_Group_Comments_Regardless_Subjects
Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Teachers Portal Rights, Basic Settings group
What This Setting Does
This setting controls which period comments a _Teacher_ can see for a _Group_ when browsing that _Group_’s Comments tab. Period comments can optionally be tied to a specific _Subject_. This setting decides whether a _Teacher_ who teaches only some _Subjects_ in the _Group_ can also see comments logged for other _Subjects_ in the same _Group_.
Where It Is Used
My Classes > select a _Group_ > Comments tab.
Business Logic / Behavior
- Disabled by default.
- When disabled, a Teacher only sees period comments for a Group that either have no Subject attached, are comments for a Group they supervise, or are tied to a Subject they personally teach in that Group.
- When enabled, a Teacher who has any access to the Group sees every period comment logged for that Group, regardless of which Subject each comment was recorded against.
- Admin and Secretary accounts are not restricted by this setting; it only changes what Teacher accounts see.
Example
Group Grade 10 – Section B at Alpha Institute has period comments logged for both English and Physics. Teacher Daniel O. teaches only Physics in that Group.
- Before enabling the setting: Daniel sees only the Physics-related comment.
- After enabling the setting: Daniel also sees the English-related comment left by the English teacher.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable when teaching staff should have full visibility into everything noted about a _Group_, regardless of _Subject_, for example to support coordinated advising across a _Group_.
When to Disable
Disable, the default, to keep each _Teacher_’s comment visibility limited to the _Subjects_ they teach, keeping Subject-specific notes away from unrelated staff.
