Students Academic Progress Form Teachers Can View Marks From Prerequisite Subjects

Updated on July 10, 2026

1 min to read

Overview

Display Label: _Student_ Academic Progress Form: _Teachers_ can view marks from Pre-requisite _Subjects_

Setting ID: Students_Academic_Progress_Form_Teachers_Can_View_Marks_From_Prerequisite_Subjects

Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Teachers Portal Rights, Basic Settings group

What This Setting Does

This setting controls whether _Teachers_ viewing a _Student_’s Academic Progress Form can also see marks the _Student_ earned in Pre-requisite _Subjects_ from previous academic years. When switched on, a _Teacher_ reviewing a _Student_’s progress in a _Subject_ can look back at how that _Student_ performed in the _Subjects_ that lead into it, building a fuller picture of the _Student_’s academic history. When switched off, _Teachers_ only see marks for the current _Subject_ and academic year.

Where It Is Used

My Classes > select a _Group_ > Statistics tab, which opens the _Student_ Academic Progress Form. Inside that form, the Mark Analysis section is where pre-requisite _Subject_ marks appear when this setting is enabled.

Business Logic / Behavior

  • Disabled by default.
  • When enabled, the Mark Analysis section of the _Student_ Academic Progress Form adds marks from _Subjects_ configured as pre-requisites of the _Subject_ currently being reviewed.
  • Pre-requisite marks shown come from previous academic years, not the current one.
  • When disabled, the Mark Analysis section only shows marks for the _Subject_ and period currently selected.
  • Only affects what _Teacher_ accounts see; it does not change what Parents or Students see on their own Academic Progress Form.

Example

Alpha Institute has configured Calculus II with Calculus I as a pre-requisite _Subject_. _Teacher_ Daniel O. opens the Academic Progress Form for _Student_ Amara W. to review her Calculus II results.

  • Before enabling the setting: Daniel only sees Amara’s Calculus II marks for the current academic year.
  • After enabling the setting: Daniel also sees Amara’s Calculus I marks from the previous academic year, for example a 78 out of 100 average, alongside her current 85 out of 100 average in Calculus II.

When to Use

When to Enable

Enable when teaching staff should see a _Student_’s history in feeder _Subjects_ to make more informed assessments in advanced _Subjects_, for example a Calculus II _Teacher_ checking Calculus I performance.

When to Disable

Disable when _Teachers_ should only assess a _Student_’s current-_Subject_ performance, or when pre-requisite _Subject_ relationships are not configured, in which case enabling the setting would add no visible information.

Notes

Prerequisites: Pre-requisite _Subject_ relationships must be configured for this setting to have any visible effect.

  • Related settings:
  • _Student_’s Academic Progress Form: Hide Comparison Graphs (Academic_Progress_Form_Hide_Comparison_Graphs in Teachers Portal Rights > Basic Settings)
  • Enabled functions for Teachers in Academic Progress view (EnabledFunctionsForTeachersInAcademicProgressView in Teachers Portal Rights > Basic Settings)

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether the institution is configured for K-12 or Higher Education.
