What is the user preferred method in messaging? Why is this useful?

Every user in Classter can select their preferred method to communicate through the platform. This is achieved through a setting in their profile called Preferred Contact Method. All users can choose if they prefer to be notified via e-mail, SMS, or internal message. They also have the choice to not receive notifications at all. (Figure 1)

This setting is being put in use when someone is trying to send a message through Classter. To send a message using this functionality you click on the message icon on the top right, then Messaging Options and User Preferred Method. (Figures 2 & 3)

You can also select this option from the new message window on the right. (Figure 4)

This setting has proven to be useful especially in cases such as where a user doesn’t want his email spammed, a relative that doesn’t know or is incapable of using the platform or a parent that doesn’t have access throughout the day to his emails or the system and wants to be notified through SMS if an important incident occurs.
