Main Settings / General Settings / Student Form / Checks & Controls / Allow a Relative to be connected multiple times to a Student
This option allows the same person to be connected to a Student multiple times. When you enable this option, a person may be related to a Student with multiple relations. For example, Grandfather and Emergency contact. It is used in rare cases and we suggest that you don’t enable it. Note: Enabling this, may result to errors such as a person being related to a Student as a mother and a father at the same time.
Setting -> Inactive
A relative can be conected to a student only once. Let’s take as example, a student who has Shannon Aanestad as a father and try to connect the father again to the student with a different relation

If we search for Shannon with a different type of relation (other), no relative is fetched to connect.
