Overview
Display label: Manage default services per Subject enrollment
Setting ID: Manage_Services_Per_Educational_Program_Courses
Location: Main Settings > General Settings > Services Parameters tab, Basic Settings group.
What This Setting Does
This setting opens a dedicated management screen where an institution defines, per _Subject_, which _Services_ should be treated as default services for _Students_ who enroll in that _Subject_. On this screen, each default service can also be marked to auto-enroll _Students_ automatically when they enroll in the matching _Subject_, and the configuration can optionally be limited to a specific general _Student_ category.
Where It Is Used
Main Settings > General Settings > Services Parameters tab > Basic Settings > click “Manage default services per Subject enrollment” to open the management screen. The screen lists Subjects with their associated default Services, lets staff add or remove services per Subject, restrict a default service to a specific Student general category, and mark services for automatic enrollment.
Business Logic / Behavior
- Default services are configured per _Subject_, so each _Subject_ can have its own set of default _Services_.
- Each default service entry can be flagged as auto-enroll; only services flagged this way are picked up by the automatic Service enrollment process when a Student’s Subject enrollment status matches the statuses configured for automatic enrollment.
- A default service entry can be limited to a specific Student general category. When a category restriction is set, only Students in that category are considered for automatic enrollment in that service; Students outside the category are not affected by that entry.
- This screen only defines which Services are considered default for a Subject; it does not by itself enroll any Student. Actual automatic enrollment also depends on the Subject enrollment statuses configured to trigger it.
Example(s)
Alpha Institute opens this screen and configures the Subject “Chemistry” so that the Laboratory Fee service is marked as default and set to auto-enroll, restricted to Students in the “Science Track” category. When Student Emma D., who is in the Science Track category, enrolls in Chemistry with an Active enrollment status, Classter automatically enrolls her in the Laboratory Fee service. A Student not in the Science Track category who enrolls in the same Subject is not automatically enrolled in that service.
When to Use
Use this screen whenever the institution wants specific Services to be automatically associated with enrollment in particular Subjects, such as a lab fee tied to a science Subject or supplementary materials tied to a specific course.
Notes
Prerequisites: the Services (Activities) and, if used, the Student general categories that should be referenced must already be created before they can be selected on this screen.

K-12 vs Higher Education: This setting behaves the same regardless of whether the institution is configured for K-12 or Higher Education.
