Overview
Classter should automatically associate new Arrangements with Educational Programs is a setting located under Financial Settings > General Settings > Arrangements Parameters, in the Basic Settings sub-group.
What This Setting Does
This setting controls whether Classter automatically links every new financial arrangement to an _Educational Program_. When a new arrangement is created for a _Student_, Classter can try to automatically figure out which _Educational Program_ it relates to, instead of requiring the user to select it manually.
Where It Is Used
This setting is applied entirely in the background when a new arrangement is built, rather than through a visible field. It affects the linkage between a newly created arrangement and the _Student_’s _Educational Program_ record.
- Main Menu > Management > Students List > (open a _Student_) > Financial tab – when a new arrangement is created here, Classter automatically attaches it to the relevant _Educational Program_ in the background when this setting is enabled.
Business Logic / Behavior
- This is an on/off checkbox setting, enabled by default.
- When enabled, Classter automatically connects any new arrangement with an _Educational Program_.
- If Classter cannot automatically determine the correct _Educational Program_ (for example, for a Services-type arrangement that is not tied to one specific program), and the user has the required privilege, Classter will prompt the user to manually select the associated _Educational Program_.
- When disabled, this automatic association behavior does not occur, and users would need to manage the arrangement-to-program relationship differently.
Example(s)
Example: at Beta College, when a registrar creates a new $9,500 annual tuition arrangement for a _Student_ enrolled in the BSc Business Administration program starting Fall 2026, Classter automatically links the arrangement to that _Educational Program_ record. However, when a $150 one-time facility-access Services-type arrangement is created in November 2026 that isn’t clearly tied to one program, Classter instead asks the registrar to pick the correct _Educational Program_ from a list of the _Student_’s 2 active programs.
When to Use
When to Enable
Enable this setting (the default) to reduce manual data entry and ensure new arrangements are consistently linked to the correct _Educational Program_ whenever this can be determined automatically.
When to Disable
Disable this setting only if your institution has a specific reason to manage the arrangement-to-_Educational Program_ association manually for every new arrangement, without any automatic linking.
Notes
Prerequisites: Users who need to manually select an _Educational Program_ when automatic association is not possible must have the corresponding privilege.
